Sean is a man with needs—needs that a lot of women were ready and willing to fulfill. Yet, the only woman that he wants to fulfill them dumped him for another man. A man who’s a member of his MC and is someone he has to see every single day and twice on Sundays.
He’s bitter and angry. He’s definitely not in the right frame of mind when it comes to dealing with women. Which is unfortunate for his new partner, Naomi, a fresh-out-of-school and totally green paramedic.
Naomi’s got enough problems on her plate. A brother who’s self-destructive and doesn’t care who he takes down with him. A man who she’s in love with but who doesn’t love her. A job that she hates because it is a constant reminder of what she can’t have.
Desperate to distance herself from her problems, she runs, taking the first job in her field that she finds willing to take on someone with so little experience.
The last thing she needs is a perpetually pissed off partner, especially when he sets her blood on fire.
But life doesn’t ask how much you can handle when it dishes out challenges. It just keeps piling them on until you’ve bested them or you’ve buckled under them.
Sean really doesn’t want to like his new partner, Naomi. He just wants to be left alone to live his life however he damn well pleases and without complications.
Naomi doesn’t care what he wants, she can’t be anything but herself. It isn’t long before she’s breaking down his walls and making him feel again. She’s trying to pull him closer and he’s pushing her away.
It’s not long before Sean sees the error of his ways.
It’s too bad, though, that by the time he realizes she’s the one, Naomi’s already gone.

I’m only here for the beard is my newest addition to my collection of Lani Lynn Vale perfection. A perfect little gem at that too.
There is no denying how much I adore the works of the author it’s kinda represented by the vigor I go through her books and by my reviews. However this one surprised me quite a bit to boost.
As I mentioned earlier the writing style of Lani Lynn Vale developed onto a whole new level the last couple of month. It’s clear and flowing, also easy to read. My addiction to these books going stronger and stronger the only problem is that I already read everything else from the author. Thanks god that Miss Vale produces a book every month.
What surprised me the most was how much I liked this particular story also it was somewhat different from the usual. The plot is really great and balanced; there is plenty of excitement and action but also a lot of funny moments and romance too. But it was unusually sweet and not just story wise but the relationship with the characters too.
I’ll be honest with you and admit that I went into the book with a certain amount of reluctance because I didn’t like Naomi at all in the other book she made an appearance. I found her too pushy and relentless in a bad way when it came to a relationship or attraction. But hey it looks like she learned from her past. Also its interesting how a different point of view can change someone mind because I felt for her in this story and as the plot progressed I started to like her. She went through a lot in her short life, it sees as if every man she falls in love with, just causes her heartache. So she decides to give up on them and live a happy but solitary life. For this she needs change and change she gets. However her plans get derailed after she meets Sean. She is really caring, giving and funny but also broken.
Sean experienced a lot of similar events and heartbreaks as Naomi so they can relate to each other. He also hit rock bottom romance wise so he is a little bitter at the beginning of the story. But he is instantly attracted o his new partner.
They don’t act on their attraction for each other for obvious reasons but they build a really strong friendship over a couple of weeks. I loved how their relationship truly built upon a great connection and not just out of the blue. They are really strong together and even if I can’t say that their relationship is explosive I loved them together. Their story is truly sweet and cute. Not altogether usual from the author but it was great.
I liked this story and waiting patiently for the next one and based on the sneak peek from the end of this one, the next book going to be phenomenal too.
