My thoughts:

“You are of royal blood; you know this. Sometimes we put ourselves last in order to protect and keep the peace so that each realm can thrive.”

Serena and Tristan have noble obligations, which is a major obstacle to them. They can’t do whatever they want. Despite all this they are trying to find happiness.

I was disappointed big in it. At all I didn’t get what I expected. The book started badly, and it started with annoying romantic thread. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the characters. At first Serena annoyed me. She behaved like a spoiled girl. I didn’t like the first half of book. It’s frustrating for me.
I’ve already seen a little improvement in the second half of book, but it still was only about Tristan and Serena’s love. Which wouldn’t have been so bad if romantic’s structure wasn’t bad at the beginning of it. The beginning of it made a lot of damage to the enjoyment of book.
I didn’t know much about royal protectors. But I read more about them and their training. I think these are been pushed into the background. The basic idea wouldn’t have been bad either. I couldn’t even like the main characters neither. The writing style was good, and I liked the humor, too. But I didn’t like romance’s construction.

I received this copy from the Red Coat PR via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Favorite quotes from the book:

“You can’t help who you fall in love with. It happens when it’s meant to.”

“The darkness you carry around with you-it doesn’t mean you don’t need or deserve love.”

“We’re becoming something else. Something bigger than we even know.”

“Love is peace. Death is war.”
